    What is GoRemo?

GoRemo is an app designed to provide remote control for the fast camera management to your GoPro camera from Apple Watch and iPhone.
Solution is trying to solve many tasks such as independent application for mobile and watch, fast connection and task scheduling.

GoRemo controls the camera through the iPhones/Apple Watch Bluetooth connection.
We are trying to achieve power saving to use only Bluetooth connection and limit camera queries.
Bluetooth is required as it is best used to control camera function, without draining the camera and the Smartphone/Watch battery prematurely.

    How to use?
    1. Synchronize your camera with application. Apple Watch and mobile application separated, it's mean you have to pair each separately and you can work with any device independent (you don't need phone to work with Apple Watch and Camera).
    2. Choose mode and start shooting.
    3. Even if camera come into sleep mode application still will be able to wake up your camera.

During some period of inactivity (for each model it's different, same as it depends on if camera is charging etc) camera will go into Power Off mode to save energy. To wake up your camera start it with Power On button.

    After connect with GoRemo app.

Some cameras don't allow Bluetooth connection while they were started manually, for such case put it back in Sleep mode (shut down a camera) or just wait 5-10 seconds it will come into sleep mode by itself.

    What is a pair mode?

This is the mode when your camera will allow to connect new app device and use it as a controller.
On GoPro cameras it's called GoPro App mode.

    How to pair my camera?

Every camera has a slightly different process of paring.
We described it in our blog: Pair Your Camera with the GoPro App

    How to increase shooting speed?

On old cameras after every video shooting camera comes to sleep mode.
We integrated quick capture mode which keeps camera always enabled and allows you to do quick shooting sessions.
The opposite side of this mode you have to disable camera by yourself from app options or manually.

    Why don’t you support preview?

Preview mode depends on camera WiFi connection, UDP protocol, also streaming has to be decoded.

Our core application rely on Bluetooth connection which gives us ability to control camera from Apple Watch and save camera power for longer time.

In case of using WiFi connection this will create multiple unnecessary limitations:

    • GoPro camera video streaming (including video preview) goes through UDP protocol, but the latest market WatchOS system (WatchOs 5+) doesn't support UDP streaming, Apple promised to add UDP in WatchOS 6, we strongly rely on this. Because of this limitations the only possible solution to stream video from camera to watch is receiving this on mobile phone and streaming this to watch.
    • Dependency from mobile phone calculations: video decoding is heavy part and to improve performance it has to be done on mobile phone according Apple guides;

We have this feature below  Features now and you can vote for it to be implemented. If we get enough user pool for this we'll do our best there.

Do you support GoPro Hero 3?

Hero3 does not support Bluetooth, so we do not support this camera model and lower.

  • Troubleshooting

Can’t sync my camera (Never was connected)
    1. Insure you have Bluetooth enabled
    2. Try to connect with mobile application
    3. Insure camera in Paring mode (GoPro App mode): Pair Your Camera with the GoPro App

If nothing helps please write to us and attach your video how you are trying to connect both camera and watch/mobile device of detailed description of the problem.

Please be aware for some users using Beta iOS 13 and Beta WatchOs 6 connection could fail in some cases. We are working on this problem. Please use released version on your devices for correct results.

After several attempts I can’t connect to my camera (Previously was connected)
    1. Disable/Enable Airplane mode on your device.
    2. If 1st didn't help try to remove your known configuration:
        • On Apple Watch navigate to Mode selection list and slide down to Options button. (For the phone just skip this step)
        • Press Options button
        • Forget device
        • Try to connect device again
